Punteggio 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2014

(50% new oak): Dark ruby. Spicy dark berries, cola and mocha on the deeply perfumed nose, with a smoky nuance emerging with aeration. Ripe and expansive on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and suggestions of licorice and vanilla bean. Round yet lively, with very good finishing clarity and smooth tannins building slowly. 10% whole clusters were used here.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2013-2020, Robert Parker, Dec 2013

The 2012 Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown Vineyard, made from Dijon clones 115, 828 and 667, is a deeper, brooding Pinot with black cherry, spice and apple-scented bouquet. More structured, masculine, burly and richer than its siblings, it offers a moderate ruby color, lots of red and black fruits, and good spice as well as length. Give it another year or so of bottle age and drink it over the following 5-7 years. All of Sojourn Cellars’ Chardonnays see about 30% new oak, and tend to have finished alcohols in the 14% to 14.3% range. Sojourn produces a half dozen Pinot Noirs, ranging between 14.2% and 14.6% natural alcohol. Most of them are made from Dijon clones. Tel. (707) 938-7212
