1998 Outpost Zinfandel

Bright deep ruby-red. Port-like aromas of macerated cherries, orange peel, chocolate and game, plus an exotic whiff of apricot. Superconcentrated, thick and sweet, with flavors of roasted black raspberry and espresso. Sound acidity frames and extends the fruit through a long, pungently peppery finish. Tannins are chewy but ripe. Very impressive for '98 Howell Mountain zin.
