The rich, unctuous, and sweet 1998 White Riesling Hoot Owl Vineyard Special Select Late Harvest (118 cases produced) was harvested with 39% sugar in the grapes, there remains 24.4% residual sugar in the wine! The alcohol is a lowly 8.8%. It is a trockenbeerenauslese-styled wine with gorgeous flavors of orange marmalade and honeyed tropical fruit. Pale gold color. Deep, more botrytis-laden aromas of honey, licorice, apricot and earth. Glyceral and highly concentrated, with sound acidity. Very long finish leaves behind notes of honey, caramel and game.
