2017 Domaine Arlaud Père & Fils Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru comes from a single block that traverses the middle of the vineyard from top to bottom. It has a perfumed, floral bouquet with modest fruit concentration, dare I say, quite Roumier in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and moderate depth, perhaps not quite as cerebral as either the Clos Saint-Denis or the Clos-de-la-Roche, but revealing impressive length on the understated finish. Patience will be required.
