Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2013-2038, Robert Parker, Oct 2013

The inky purple-colored 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain offers lots of blueberry, blackberry and forest floor aromas, a full, deep and expansive personality with layers of blue and black fruit flavors, abundant glycerin, good acidity, and a full-bodied, exceptionally pure, brilliantly textured finish. This stunning Cabernet should drink well for 20-25 years. I tasted eight cuvees of 2010 Cabernet Sauvignons from Hall. I will write abbreviated notes on the eight 2012s I tasted, which is a great vintage in Napa. Based on my experience with the Hall wines, they show better from bottle than from barrel samples, always a sign of a high quality winery. All of these wines possess splendid opaque blue/purple colors. A remarkable thing about all of Hall’s 2012s is that they should be accessible when released given the sweetness of the tannins, yet they should have 20-30-year drinking windows. Congratulations to Kathryn Hall. I have been high on her wines since I first tasted them in the offices of David Ramey. It is rewarding to see that she is realizing the enormous potential that accompanied her debut wines. Tel. (707) 967-2626

(15% alcohol): Good bright, dark red with ruby highlights. Pure aromas of redcurrant, loam and licorice. Pliant and sweet, offering good texture and extract to its flavors of plum, currant, mocha and brown spices. Finishes with broad, sweet tannins and a drop of milk chocolate.

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Hall (Howell Mountain) possesses staggering richness and power. Firm but polished tannins provide the backdrop for rich, resonant layers of black fruits, grilled herbs, mint and cloves. The 2010 impresses for its huge personality and headspinning richness. This isn't a subtle wine by any means, but it does boast fabulous balance and plenty of class. I loved it.

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain District is once again a huge, hulking Cabernet bursting with the essence of black fruit, tar, smoke, graphite and minerals. It shows fabulous intensity all the way through the building, dramatic finish. This statuesque Cabernet is a great wine in the making.
