Note di degustazione
Bright, green-tinged yellow. Vibrant aromas and flavors of soft citrus fruits, menthol, fresh herbs and crushed rock, complemented by a positive medicinal element. Wonderfully silky and rich but enlivened by harmonious, integrated acidity and rocky lift. Conveys an impression of viscosity without weight while retaining a slightly edgy character. Finishes quite dry and a little austere. This wine is a bit more youthfully aggressive than the Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets--in fact, it's a tad rustic by comparison.

The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières is shaping up to be a success, revealing pretty aromas of pear, almond paste, white flowers and subtle reduction. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and chewy, with sappy acids, good mid-palate volume and plenty of chewy substance. I'm expecting it to show well from bottle.
Higher parcel within the cru, calcareous but quite deep. ‘For me Genevrières isn’t inferior to Perrières’, says PY. Not too frost-affected. Barrel sample. Intense citrus nose, a touch cedary and a hint of orange all entwined with a stony mineral quality. Full and quite broad in the mouth and balanced by this core of fresh acidity. This has both richness and precision and a generosity but without any fat. Huge presence in the mouth without loss of freshness. I think it is going to be long-lived, even with all this richness. Long, nutty finish. (JH)
