Sesti's 2008 Brunello di Montalcino is an attractive wine typical of the year. Smoke, tar, savory herbs, plums and black cherries are layered nicely in this medium-bodied Brunello. There is an element of finesse in the 2008 that is attractive even if the wine appears to be built for near term drinking.

Just mid ruby with broad orange rim. A little bit anodyne on the nose. Ripe but without enormous depth. Dried-fruit notes on a mellow finish. Perhaps more to come? (WS)
