(86% cabernet sauvignon, 9% cabernet franc and 5% merlot) Vivid ruby. Sexy aromas of cherry-vanilla, cola, brown spices and licorice. Sappy cherry and dark berry flavors are framed by velvety tannins and show a lot of smoky, sweet oak influence. I like this wine's depth and sweet fruit but wonder about the oak element.

9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot. Potent (15% alcohol) with rich cassis and blackberry. Yet it's also dry, and crisp acidity balances the weight and fruit. Good complexity for the style -- earth, black olive and espresso. Tannins are finely buffed. Unfiltered, and it throws a lot of sediment. (LM)
