Note di degustazione
The 2013 Syrah Larry Hyde & Sons Vineyard is aged 18 months in about one-third new French oak puncheons and some smaller barrels. It is co-fermented with 5% Viognier, giving the wine a floral, uplifted set of aromatics, followed by black raspberry and blackberry fruit. It has a nice, dark, chewy mouthfeel and a lush, heady, succulent finish. This is a sexy Syrah, and already showing some complexity. It should drink well for 8-10 years.

The 2013 Syrah Larry Hyde & Sons Vineyard has really come together nicely. Today, the 2013 is bright, punchy and aromatic, with lovely floral and savory overtones. Mint, sage, rose petal, sweet red cherry and pomegranate are all pushed forward. This is an unusually forward, open wine for the year, but I doubt that will be much of an issue for most readers, as the 2013 is incredibly delicious today. The 50% whole clusters are barely perceptible.
The 2013 Syrah Larry Hyde & Sons Vineyard is a bit more tannic and also more varietally expressive than the 2012 tasted alongside it. Black cherries, grilled herbs, graphite, smoke and licorice burst from the glass in an energetic, vibrant Syrah full of personality.
