2004 Domaine des Comtés Lafon Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru

A high-toned nose of white flowers and mineral-inflected aromas merges seamlessly into beautifully precise middle weight flavors that have begun to round out though to be sure, there remains admirable precision and outstanding length. This is an unusually dense '04 as there is plenty of dry extract that gives a real sense of volume and mid-palate density. An excellent effort and can already be approached with pleasure though for my taste, I would allow it to sleep for another year or two. Tasted thrice recently with consistent notes.

(from fruit picked early, on the second day of the harvest, with 13.8% potential alcohol) Knockout nose combines peach, crushed stone and oatmeal. A step up in sweetness and opulence from the foregoing samples: fat, silky and thick yet conveying an impression of weightlessness. Peach and orange flavors are joined by piquant spices and mounting minerality on the extremely long and thoroughly ripe aftertaste. An impressively complete example of this great site.
