2001 Matthews Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Elerding Vineyard Reserve

Bright medium ruby. Brooding, medicinal aromas of dark berries and smoky oak, with a slight suggestion of stewed fruits. Fat, rich, thick and powerful, with superripe, concentrated dark berry, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors. Strong but unrefined. A bit youthfully clenched on the aftertaste, but the firm tannins mostly avoid dryness.
