La Moutonne is a 2.3 ha monopole, owned by Bichot, that overlaps Vaudésir and Preuses. Treated as a grand cru even though the official classification was never fully ratified. The winemaker for this vintage is now at Malande. The vintage was saved by a sunny September after a gloomy summer. Relatively closed on the nose though it does open in the glass. Delicately creamy and a fabulous savoury note a bit like bovril. Delicate on the palate too. Crisp and long and so delicate. Easy to underestimate. 'Very Chablis and ageing beautifully', said Rosemary George MW. (JH)
