A saturated inky black, the 2019 Surround has the addition of 18% Cabernet Franc and was raised in 100% new 225-liter French oak barrels. Ripe and rounded, it opens to notes of blackberry preserve, vanilla bean, tobacco, and mocha. Full-bodied, with bright, angular acidity, the palate reveals dusty tannins and a snappy feel, with a clean though somewhat more modest finish compared to the rest of the range. It’s in a great place for drinking over the next several years. Drink 2023-2027.

The 2019 Surround is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Cabernet Franc and matured for 20 months in 74% new oak. It has pretty scents of green pepper, pipe tobacco, mushroom, graphite and red and black currants. The full-bodied palate is light on its feet with its abundant, velvety tannins and plenty of refreshing acidity to counter its concentrated, gently herbal fruit. 820 cases were made.
