Note di degustazione
Carver Sutro's 2009 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard wraps around the palate with layers of highly expressive dark red fruit. The fruit remains quite primary, while more complexity need to develop in bottle. Sweet floral notes add lift on the finessed, delicate finish. This is a remarkably polished wine, even if it is not especially varietal. Today, the 2009 is pure, silky and impeccably refined.

At press time, Denis Sutro hadn’t decided if he would bottle his 2011 Petite Sirah. I did have a chance to re-visit the 2009 and 2010, both of which were just as fabulous as they have always been. The 2009 Petite Sirah is fleshy, ripe and totally beautiful. The flavor profile tends towards dark red rather than black fruit, along with flowers, licorice and tobacco. Whereas the 2008 needs more time in bottle, the 2009 does not. It is a wonderfully open, seductive wine to drink now and over the next 7-10 years. This is a richer, more generous style than the 2008, and is a better choice for drinking today.
