Note di degustazione
The excellent, deep ruby/purple-colored 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon caresses the palate with sweet red and black currant fruit intermixed with chocolate, spice, and minerals. Medium to full-bodied, seductive, and a success for the vintage, it will provide immense pleasure over the next 6-7 years. Tel. (707) 944-2877; Fax (707) 944-9454

Quite low-key. Sweet, round, well made. Well mannered but easy to overlook. (JR)
Very good full ruby. Dusty aromas of cassis, black cherry and herbs. Comes across as leaner and rawer today than the '99, with moderately ripe currant flavor and slightly tart acidity. There's a bit less stuffing here for the wine's tannic spine.
Informazioni sul produttore

The site of Shafer has been around since 1880, and grapes continued to be grown here, even during prohibition. It is said that some wine was made here during that time. In 1972, John Shafer bought the property in the Stag’s Leap district, he immediately began planting the Cabernet on the hillside.
