Rather opulent, sweet, developed nose. Hand-crafted impression on the nose of unusually (for 2010) ripe grapes. Then a pretty tart palate. Quite a nice combination, actually. Drinking well at the moment but not showing signs of falling over. (JR)
(bottled in April): Fruit-driven aromas of peach, apricot, pear and flowers. Then juicy and tight in the mouth, with strong citrussy acidity leavening the wine's mid-palate sweetness. The long, peachy finish shows lovely finesse for this bottling.
A more typical expression of Meursault emerges from the 2010 Meursault Clos de la Barre. Slate, crushed rocks, lime, citrus and white stone fruits are woven together in this delineated, vibrant wine. The Clos de la Barre possesses tremendous depth, but here polish reigns supreme. Floral notes add lift and total refinement on the finish.
