Few readers ever get to taste Spottswoode's Sauvignon Blanc as much of it is sold to restaurants. It has become one of California's more interesting Sauvignons. The 1995 displays a white Graves-like personality, good aromatics, excellent freshness, plenty of oaky, waxy, melony fruit, and an underpinning of crisp acidity. Spottswoode is one of those rare Napa estates whose reputation rests less on volume or spectacle than on persistent exactitude.
