The 2013 Chardonnay South River is made in a slightly oilier, more viscous style than the River Block, but it is neither overwrought nor heavy. More mango, pineapple and peach marmalade characteristics make an appearance in this wine that cuts a broad, savory, multilayered texture across the palate. This big, impeccably well-crafted and balanced Chardonnay should drink well for 5-8 years.

Light yellow-gold. Heady aromas of ripe citrus fruits, chamomile, smoky minerals and anise. Shows intense minerality on the palate, with spicy orange, quince and ginger flavors firmed by a bright spine of acidity. This uncompromisingly dry, steely chardonnay finishes with superb clarity and length.
