2012 HALL Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain

Part of what Kathryn Hall calls her Artisan Collection, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain has a dense ruby/purple color and a glorious nose of boysenberry, mulberry and blueberry that soars from the glass and saturates the olfactory senses. This is one of the greatest Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever had the pleasure of tasting, and I’ve had many a top one. With just a hint of graphite and beautiful well-integrated acidity, the new oak, which I’m sure is substantial – pushed way to the background because of the extravagant fruit and an unctuous texture – make for a near-perfect wine to drink over the next two decades. This is stunning, even profound, wine. Kudos.
