The 2017 Pinot Noir Cleary Estate has really come together beautifully in bottle. Wonderfully complete and multi-dimensional, the 2017 is a wine of floral character and breath. Lavender, spice, mint, plum and crème de cassis all open up with a bit of air, but it is the wine's kaleidoscope of aromas, flavors and textures that is truly dazzling. Wow!

Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2017 Pinot Noir Cleary Estate offers a gorgeous perfume of boysenberries, crushed red and black cherries, spiced cranberry sauce and pomegranate coulis with woodsmoke, tar, dried leaves and scorched earth—I love the interplay of earth with bright, pure fruits. It’s medium to full-bodied, silky and tightly wound, slowly expanding to all that perfumed fruit. It’s lifted by mouthwatering acidity and has a very fine-grained frame, finishing long on a floral note. Lovely! This will reward another couple of years in the cellar. 171 cases produced.
The 2017 Pinot Noir Cleary Estate comes from the Sonoma Coast and saw 45-55% new barrels. This ruby/purple-hued effort offers up an awesome bouquet of black raspberries, black cherries, smoked earth, sweet earth, and underbrush. Possessing remarkable purity and elegance, medium to full body, no hard edges, and straight up awesome tannin quality, it's a brilliant wine as well as one of the Pinot Noirs of the vintage.
This is a new wine from Paul Hobbs. Dense and layered with a solid core of fruit and fantastic purity and ripeness that is all in balance. Wonderful drive and fascination to this.
