In the same ballpark quality-wise, the 2015 Syrah Harrison Grade comes from a vineyard right next to the estate. These grapes previously always went to the Las Colinas blend, but they decided to bottle a single vineyard release in 2012 when they purchased the estate. The vines here were planted in 1999. This beauty offers abundant Bing cherry, strawberry, violets, and black olive aromatics, medium body, juicy acidity, and a finesse-driven, incredibly floral personality. The 2015 Syrah Harrison Grade Estate was so expressive from barrel, but is much less showy from bottle. Firm tannins and significant whole cluster influence dominate over the fruit at this stage. All of the elements are present for the 2015 to be much more giving. The only missing ingredient here is time.
Another dazzling wine, the 2015 Syrah Harrison Grade Estate has a bit more whole cluster influence than the 2014 tasted alongside it, which, among other things, adds a super-appealing upper register of aromas and flavors. White pepper, cranberry, spice and a host of floral/savory notes take shape in the glass, but it is the wine's overall balance that truly stands out. There is so much to look forward to.
