Medium ruby, the 2017 Schmiedt Road Zinfandel opens with friendly aromas of yellow peach preserves, dried hollyhock, fresh cranberries, wild blackberries and tangerine with nuances of fallen leaves and mixed tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate gives up intense, dense fruits with oodles of floral perfume, framed by lightly chewy tannins and fantastic freshness and finishing long and layered.

The 2017 Zinfandel Schmiedt Road is glorious. Floral notes and red-toned fruits mark this gracious, airy Zinfandel. Sandy soils on this site further bring out the wine's inner sweetness and perfume. The purity of the flavors is simply striking. This delicious, engaging Zinfandel will drink well right out of the gate. Sadly, yields are down 33% because of losses of fruit damaged by heat and selection. In exchange, though, Morgan Peterson and Chris Cottrell made an absolutely superb wine.
