A blend of 55% Grenache, 27% Mourvedre and 18% Syrah, the 2012 Veracity is a sweetly fruited, sexy and seamless red that has plenty of black raspberry, raspberry, licorice, crushed rock and toasted spice on the nose. As with all of Jordan’s 2012s, it’s made in a full-bodied, lightly textured and savory style, with plenty of chewy tannin (which is common in her 2012s) on the finish. It will improve with another year in bottle and have over a decade of longevity. I was blown away by these 2011s from winemaker Jordan Fiorentini, and they showed uncommon depth and richness in the vintage. For the most part, they’re ready to go, yet should evolve gracefully. Moving on to the reds and starting with the 2011s, these showed beautifully from barrel, and didn’t disappoint from bottle. They’re up there with the creme de la creme of the vintage. The 2012s are tighter, with a chewier, savory tannin profile that will be something to watch. They’ll need a year or two in the cellar once released. Tel. (805) 237-2011; www.epochwines.com

The Grenache-based 2012 Veracity is dense, rich and powerful. Dark red stone fruits, crushed flowers, smoke and tobacco are some of the notes that open up in the glass, followed by kirsch and exotic spice overtones that add both complexity and nuance. Veracity is 55% Grenache, 27% Mourvèdre and 18% Syrah.
