Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2019-2029, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jul 2020

The 2012 Chablis Villages was only the sixth iteration of Raveneau's communal appellation bottling, and it's drinking very well today, mingling aromas of ripe lemons and crisp green apple with hints of beeswax and oatmeal. Medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's charming and open-knit—the young vines making themselves felt a little—but underpinned by racy acids, concluding with a delicately mineral finish.

The 2012 Chablis was magnificent from barrel and it is every bit as superb from bottle. Crystalline and pure, the Chablis captures all of the house signatures in miniature. Hazelnuts, dried pears and a hint of spice add nuance on the translucent, super-expressive finish. This is a great example of the year. The 2012 reminds me of the 2010, but with a little more richness, which is essentially the personality of the vintage in a nutshell.

A superb wine, the 2012 Chablis emerges from the glass with the essence of lime, grapefruit, crushed rocks and petrol. The 2012 stands out for its expressive, layered personality, complexity and superb pedigree. There is more than enough depth for the 2012 to drink well for a number of years, but the truth is it is already dazzling. Readers who want to understand just how great 2012 is at Raveneau need only taste the Chablis. As a die-hard Raveneau fan, this is one wine I look forward to enjoying pretty much upon release. This is without question the most beautiful village-level Chablis I tasted in 2012.

Musky aromas of lemon, lime and white pepper. Juicy, bright and pure, with excellent citric cut to the ripe pineapple flavor. Finishes with excellent grip and length but also has the pliancy to give early pleasure. Should make a terrific village wine.
