Not surprisingly, the Chambertin-Clos de Beze, always a winner from this house, received 26 days of maceration in 1988. The result is a beautifully scented wine smelling of exotic spices, soy sauce, ground beef, and lots of ripe berry fruit. It is full bodied, very rich, but is not comparable to the celestial 1985. Nevertheless, it is an outstanding red burgundy from this vintage.
