The 2015 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru was difficult to read in barrel but appears to have pulled through in bottle much better than the Porusots. It has a reticent bouquet despite rigorous swirling of the glass, though eventually I am able to eke out green apple, orange peel and light walnut aromas. The palate is well balanced, with good depth and plenty of freshness, and quite saline in the mouth. There is a sense of energy and brightness on the finish that is a delight. All it needs is another couple of years in bottle for the aromatics to blossom. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 30 closure)

Tasted blind, Lafon's 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières exhibits a reserved nose of struck match, iodine and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, taut but layered palate that's deep, tangy and concentrated but decidedly tight-knit at this stage. Some patience will be required.
Bottled early May 2017. Domaine surprised that the 2015s have not been too luscious. Sweet finish and lots of fat. Round and appealing. Lightly spicy. Very little quinine finish. (JR)
