Note di degustazione
The 2019 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has an intense bouquet with pressed white flowers, grilled almonds and citrus fruit, gaining delineation with aeration. The palate is well balanced with good density, a thickly-textured Meursault with possibly slightly more extraction than its peers, and that slightly denudes it of complexity and mineralité on the finish. Nevertheless, this is an appealing Meursault Genevrières that could have been even better. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru has a strict, controlled bouquet offering very focused scents of white peach, walnut, smoke and subtle earthy aromas. The palate is well balanced, with a Charmes-like, quite honeyed opening, although the acidity kicks back nicely to maintain tension. A little spiciness comes through on the finish, which displays judicious notes of orange peel and white pepper. Excellent.
Two-thirds 70 years old, one-third 25 years old. But some of the oldest vines have just been pulled out. Cask sample. Round and a little fat today. I can’t quite see the herbal quality that I usually pick out on this climat on the nose. Chewy but low key aromatically today. (JR)
