Note di degustazione
The 2012 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch is another stellar wine from Martinelli. Lemon peel, white flowers and white pepper lift from the glass in a striking, nuanced wine long on class and personality. The interplay of fruit intensity and freshness is compelling.

The 2012 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch (50% new oak) is dazzling. I recently finished my last bottles of the 2006 Zio Tony, and that wine is still going strong at age 8, which tells me these wines will probably last and evolve a lot longer than I have predicted. The 2012 offers up wonderful honeysuckle, white peach, orange marmalade, white currant and spring flower characteristics as well as crisp acids, a full-bodied, fresh, vibrant mouthfeel and plenty of exuberance and sexiness. Consume it over the next decade. Fortunately, this is the largest cuvée of 413 cases.

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
