Note di degustazione
(aged on its lees for five months in stainless steel): Pale, bright silver-yellow. Aromas of melon and grapefruit complicated by musky quinine, minerals and herbal tea. Silky and rich but dry, with pineapple and grapefruit flavors accented by crushed stone. Not quite as intense or bracing as some recent vintages of this bottling but pliant, well-made and quite persistent.

The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Les Pionnieres (100% Sauvignon Blanc) was aged on its lees in stainless steel for five months. More honeyed melon and tropical fruit aromas are found in the bouquet along with a delicacy and complexity that are restrained yet intense. This medium-bodied Sauvignon possesses impressive minerality, wonderful fruit and a dry, crisp finish. It, too, should be consumed over the next 2-3 years, although I suspect these Sauvignons have the potential to last longer. This relatively new, interesting enterprise was created by May-Britt and Denis Malbec. Denis, who long worked in Bordeaux, has become an increasingly respected and sought-after wine consultant in Northern California. Consequently, it is not surprising that the Capture cuvees are strongly Bordeaux-influenced from philosophy and winemaking perspectives. Tel. (707) 395-0457
