Note di degustazione
(15.8% alcohol): Saturated ruby-red. More subdued on the nose than the Left Blank bottling but nicely pure, offering hints of dark berries, black cherry, licorice, menthol and minerals. Broader and suppler on the palate, showing a less exaggerated sweetness than the Left Blank, but also a bit less expressive and more medicinal today. Finishes quite long, with building dusty tannins and notes of licorice and graphite. Less interesting today than the Left Blank but this may yet show greater nuance with more time in bottle.

The brilliant 2004 St. Augustine is composed of an intriguing blend of 42% Cabernet Franc, 42% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Sauvignon. Its spectacular bouquet of graphite, flowers, black raspberries and blueberries is followed by a full-bodied, powerful, rich, vibrant wine that cuts a broad swath across the palate. Multidimensional, rich and intense, this terrific 2004 should be enjoyed over the next decade or more. Tel. (707) 963-1774
