The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is one of the best wines I have tasted in this vintage. Silky, aromatic and light on its feet, the 2020 is so classy. With a more mid-weight, almost Pinot-like structure, this is one of the very few 2020s I would buy for myself.

Full bottle 1,541 g. I know Rosemary Cakebread went to great lengths not to get her bottles from China but I wish she could have found some lighter ones locally. Vines planted in 1990 on Cortina soils in St Helena. 'Picked 18 September. Smoke taint analysis on request', say the notes about this wine! Aged for 17 months in 100% French oak 225- and 300-litre barrels (none new). Dark crimson. Very aromatically Cabernet – a decongestant?! Rich but not sweet. Really dense and nuanced and extremely long. So much complexity here! Rich start and dry finish with the purest of myriad Cabernet expressions in between. I'd love to compare this with a classed-growth bordeaux. The ripe tannins will keep it going for ages. (JR)
Inviting aromas of ripe blackberries and blueberries with hints of cigar box, dried flowers and crushed stones. Medium- to full-bodied. Dry and slightly chewy with firm tannins, deep, blue fruits and a lingering, toasty finish. Better from 2025.
