Lot 7. Very deep, bright crimson. Subtle nose that draws you in rather than advertises itself immediately. Neat and contained. Very fresh and beautifully balanced. Lively and fresh and just gorgeous now. But those looking for stereotypical heft may prefer others. Such as the Ovid perhaps? (JR)

25% Cabernet Franc. This was the first of the run of drought years. The vintage was such that Rosemary Cakebread feels she only just managed to make a wine as sophisticated and gentle as she liked. Bright dark-purplish crimson. Big and thick and the acidity is a little jagged. Big and bold. Very contained. Rich and opulent but not heady. (JR)
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc. 20 months in French oak. Highly tannic, densely fruited and full bodied. Showcases all of Napa’s power, but has refreshment on the finish and nothing at all candied about it. Fibrous and starchy and expressive. (RH)
Nuanced aromatics and palate. Seamless with an impressive attention to detailed craftsmanship. Notes of wild cherry, plum, and dusty cocoa accented by gunmetal and tobacco. Lovely, fine tannins and balancing acidity. Lots of concentration and density across the full length of the palate all the way into a long mouth-watering finish. This is a lovely, energetic wine that will no doubt develop further in bottle. (ECB)
