2010 Keever Cabernet Sauvignon Yountville

(100% cabernet sauvignon): Aromas of blackberry, cassis, mocha and chocolate show an almost syrupy ripeness, along with accents of truffle, leather and roasted coffee. Then quite sweet but a bit bound-up in the mouth, with blackberry and peppery flavors complicated by a whiff of toasted rosemary. Today the wine's tannins are somewhat edgy and dry, but the finish offers good grip and length. There was very little fruit here, as the vines were affected by the late August heat spike.

The estate’s 2009 and 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon were even more impressive than they were last year, while the 2011 is a strong effort in a challenging vintage.
