Note di degustazione
Full ruby-red. Pungent aromas of dark berries, black cherry, licorice, herbs and caraway seed, complicated by hints of dark chocolate and woodsmoke Supple and fairly fine-grained on entry, then the wine's herbal element gives an edgy quality to its dark fruit and bitter chocolate flavors. A midweight wine with moderate flesh and sweetness and a distinctly medicinal menthol quality throughout. Slightly sour on the back end, finishing with light tooth-dusting tannins. This may yet soften with more time in bottle but it's unlikely to expand or gain in sweetness as there's a green edge here. (14.4% alcohol)

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is gorgeous. Firm yet polished tannins provide the backbone in this nuanced, focused Cabernet Sauvignon. Juicy blue and black fruit, sage, mint and violets are some of the many nuances that flow from this structured, intense wine. All the elements are in the right place. This is another impressive showing from Keever.

This is another impressive showing from Keever. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029. Keever owns six acres of vines in Yountville. Jim Barbour looks after the vineyards while Celia Welch makes the wines. The estate’s 2009 and 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon were even more impressive than they were last year, while the 2011 is a strong effort in a challenging vintage. I am quite confident this small, under the radar winery will soon find a larger audience. All three wines I tasted were fabulous. Tel. 707.944.0910
(the estate's flagship wine): Good red-ruby. Blackberry, cassis and bitter chocolate aromas are lifted by a violet topnote. Sweet and lush on entry, then a bit medicinal in the middle, with a black cherry flavor dominating. Finishes with firm but sweet tannins and good length. A bit locked up today.
