(an 80/20 blend of merlot and cabernet sauvignon, aged entirely in French oak, 80% new): Bright ruby-red. Aromatic nose combines black cherry, crushed rock, violet and clove oil. Quite sweet and seamless, but with its lush texture supported by tannic grip and a distinctly rocky quality that reminded me of limestone. Nicely dense, juicy wine with a rather bracing finish.

The 2008 Hossfeld Coliseum (a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals a deep ruby/purple color along with dense black currant fruit intermixed with well-integrated sweet oak, licorice and spring flower notes.
