2009 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Cras Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru

(this finished its malo just two weeks before my visit) Deep red-ruby. Slightly reduced aromas of violet, licorice, menthol and bitter chocolate. Juicy, tight and lively, with a strong underlying rocky quality providing energy. The firmly tannic finish leaves the palate vibrating. I'm not sure if I would have identified this superb wine blind as a 2009.
