The 2016 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a pretty, appellation-level wine that is also a terrific introduction to these Pinots. A rush of dark red cherry and plum make a strong opening statement, with expressive floral/savory notes that add aromatic lift. Medium in body and impeccable in its balance, the 2016 is very nicely done. The Sonoma Coast is the hidden jewel in this range. Actually, it is not so hidden, rather it is pretty evident. Starting with 2016, the Sonoma Coast Pinot is a blend of declassified barrels taken from the vineyard designated wines and no longer includes fruit from Campbell Ranch and Sonoma Stage that was previously purchased just for this wine.

Bright cherry red. Cherry and lightly beetroot aromas with some distinct spiciness on the finish. Far from heavy but not lean. Racy taffeta texture. Very charming already. Lovely stuff with bags of flavour for its low alcohol level. To be drunk young with great pleasure. (JR)
