Silky on entry, then densely packed but weightless in the mid-palate, displaying outstanding inner-mouth spicy, floral lift to its intense red fruit and saline mineral flavors. A creamy, utterly seamless old-vines Chapelle with extremely refined tannins and inexorable subtle rising length. Outstanding--but will this wine shut down hard in bottle? Moderately saturated medium red. Exhilarating pungent perfume of raspberry, cranberry, rose petal and crushed stone. Wonderfully juicy and intense, but with an impression of penetrating energy giving the middle palate a magically weightless quality. With its inner-mouth rose petal perfume and captivating balance of sweet and savory red fruit and spice elements, this is totally different in style from the darker, more reserved Mazis. For all its precision and saline energy, this beauty has a texture like liquid silk. These 90-year-old vines on rich soil still produce 30 hectoliters per hectare, according to Barnier. Finishes with noble tannins and outstanding spicy, floral lift, staining the palate and lingering without losing its breadth. This fruit was picked on September 9.
