2001 Narsai David Cabernet Sauvignon

(includes 15% merlot and 10% cabernet franc) Dark red. Old-school aromas of cassis, graphite and tobacco leaf, with hints of chocolate, nuts, leather and spice cake. Then juicy and firm but sweet, with complex flavors of dried cherry, strawberry, raspberry, leather and spice cake. The lively acidity here reminded me of a traditionally made Chianti. Finishes with ripe, firm tannins and lingering nuances of leather, chocolate and building oak. I especially like the wine's moderate 13.6% alcohol and aromatic aftertaste. Neyers Vineyards.
