Mature and not dead but I wonder whether it will ever harmonise? Butterscotch and greenness. Odd combo. Slightly popcorn flavours. (JR)

Light yellow. A full-blown bouquet of butterscotch-accented melon, peach and yellow plum suggests a wine that's ready to drink. Open, lush and deep in melon and pear flavors, with soft acidity and a light note of woodsmoke. I'd drink this big, weighty wine soon.
The 2004 Chardonnay Allen Vineyard is pure citrus oil and orange blossom with plenty of tropical fruit and subtle oak, a full-bodied, powerful mouthfeel, and good minerality. It should drink well for 4-6 years. Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 433-6546
