Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2021-2036, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022

The 2011 Rapszodia is superb. The 2011 Rapszodia, here in its second vintage, has aged impeccably. Bright red-toned fruit, spice, blood orange and mint lend terrific aromatic brightness. Clean saline notes lend energy, tension and freshness. What a beautiful wine this is. The 2011 really needed time to blossom. Now it has.

62% Cabernet Franc, 38% Merlot. Very much like a Cheval Blanc. Quite intense, with an aromatic overlay. Polished and layered. Savoury finish with quite a bit of tannin still. Very savoury. (JR)

(a 62/38 blend of cabernet franc and merlot; aged in 56% new oak, French and Hungarian): Bright ruby-red. Aromas and flavors of black cherry, licorice, wild herbs, menthol and lavender. Shows a medicinal reserve without any impression of hardness, with the menthol quality nicely counterpointed by sweetness and floral lift. Finishes juicy and very long, with firm but suave tannins. If the Roberta's Reserve is targeting Petrus, this is Kapcsandy's Cheval Blanc. (He describes the Endre and Estate Cuvee as Pessac-Leognan and the Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Vin as Pauillac, making it clear that he considers Bordeaux, not Napa Valley, to be his competition.)

Sweet tobacco, herbs, mint, licorice, new leather, smoke and incense are some of the many notes that flesh out in the 2011 Rapszodia. The 2011 is built in pure elegance and finesse. It doesn’t have the exuberance or power of the 2010, but in exchange the 2011 will be ready to drink much sooner. The silky, gracious finish leaves a lasting impression. In 2011, Rapszodia is 62% Cabernet Franc and 38% Merlot.
