Note di degustazione
The 2016 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard, aged in 70% new French oak for 16 months, is a little reticent to begin, offering glimpses at apple tart, ripe bosc pears and honeydew melon notes with suggestions of toasted almonds, musk perfume, lanolin and wet pebbles. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a lively backbone of freshness lifting the taut, mineral-accented fruit, finishing very long. 225 cases produced.

Coming all from Old Wente Clone, the 2016 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard was barrel fermented and aged 16 months in 70% new French oak. Its vibrant yellow color is followed by a killer bouquet of caramelized lemons, crushed rocks, salty minerality, and white flower. This powerful, yet fresh and ethereal Chardonnay tastes like a grand cru Chablis on steroids. These brilliant wines from Chateau Boswell are made by renowned winemaker/consultant Philippe Melka, with assistants from Allison Nunnikhoven. I found all f the wines to have classic, balanced, age-worthy profiles, and they’re some of the gems in this report.
