Note di degustazione
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a dense purple color along with notes of creosote, black currants, blackberries, licorice and a truffle-like aroma. Full-bodied and rich with a layered mouthfeel, this stunning 2009 possesses high, but sweet, well-integrated tannin. It will drink well for 15-20 years. Some terrific Cabernet Sauvignons are emerging from Sonoma, and Kamen Estate’s 2009 and 2010 Cabernets both merit attention, especially from readers who believe Napa makes the only great California Cabernet Sauvignons. The two luxury cuvees, made, I assume, from the best barrels, include the 2009 and 2010 Cashmere, both of which are profound examples of Cabernet Sauvignon that could rival the finest from Napa in a blind tasting. Today the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon seems to bring together the best qualities of 2007 and 2008, which is to say it is a gorgeous, elegant wine. Dark red fruit, violets, flowers, tobacco, espresso and spices are all wonderfully alive in the glass. The 2009 is rich and voluptuous, yet backed up by more than enough structural intensity to balance some of the wine's more overt tendencies.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a little more restrained in style than the 2008 I tasted alongside it. Flowers, red fruit, licorice and sweet spices flow effortlessly from this beautiful, textured Cabernet Sauvignon. Fine, silky tannins frame the poised finish. This is a lovely showing.
