Normally the darkest-fruited of the Tor wines, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch is true to form, offering up scents of black cherries and cassis, with a subtle hint of sage. It's full-bodied, concentrated and tannic, with a slightly coarse texture, but it comes across as ripe and harmonious on the long finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon with a bit of Petit Verdot. Fermented on skins for 21 days before pressing. Matured 18 months in new French oak. Unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby with a hint of purple. Incredibly rich, brambly and full with ample oak spice on the nose. The palate is purple and dense and sweet-fruited – jammy. Lengthy finish. (SCJ)
I'd put the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard up with the top wines of the vintage. Coming from a great, great terroir on the western side of the valley floor, it offers a full-bodied, deep, layered, remarkably well-textured, and balanced profile, and you'd be hard-pressed to know it came from a heatwave vintage. Giving up beautiful cassis, graphite, darker chocolate, and subtle spicy wood notes, it has fine tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a "wow" 2022 to snatch up. As with most wines in the vintage, it's already impossible to resist.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard is dark, layered and mysterious. Black cherry, espresso, licorice, menthol and leather are all amplified. This feels a touch ripe. There's 5% Petit Verdot in the blend, the last vintage for Petit Verdot here before it was ripped out.
