Punteggio 99/100 · Da bere 2026-2057, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2023

A co-fermented blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Petit Verdot, from the Diamond Mountain region of the valley, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Rhadamanthus is another magical wine from this estate that does everything right. Blackcurrants, spring flowers, olive, iron, and bouquet garni all give way to a full-bodied, inky, concentrated, yet incredibly layered and elegant Cabernet that will be approachable with 3-4 years of bottle age and cruise over the following two to three decades.

Black fruit, spices and cedar on the nose. Dried flowers, too. It’s full-bodied with firm tannins. Full and structured with juicy character and a flavorful finish. Round and nicely chewy tannins. Needs three or four years to soften. Try after 2024.

An utterly magnificent wine, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Rhadamanthus Diamond Mountain District is creamy, ample and super-expressive, with layers of fruit presently masking quite a bit of the mountain tannin. Inky dark fruit, licorice, gravel, spice. All the elements come together effortlessly in this sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2018 is so elegant, so pure, so refined. I loved it. In a word: monumental.

The 2018 Rhadamanthus is a single-vineyard wine coming from the old Revery vineyard on Diamond Mountain. It is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, all co-fermented. Deep garnet-purple, it comes barreling out of the glass with bold scents of black cherries, blueberry compote and warm cassis with hints of roses, clove oil, tilled soil and chocolate box. Medium-bodied, the beguiling black fruits are simply ethereal, dancing on the palate with beautiful mineral accents, supported by firm, fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, culminating in a long, perfumed finish. 127 cases were made.
