Punteggio 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2006

(like Sussman's La Neblina pinot, this is a blend from multiple sources) Bright medium ruby. Wild, Cornas-like aromas of blueberry, blackberry, violet and mint. Dense, juicy and oak-spicy; sweet but not at all over the top. Black fruit and pepper flavors are underpinned by solid spine. Good honest syrah, aged in once-used barrels. This should develop nicely in bottle.

Punteggio 87-88/100 · Da bere 2005-2010, Robert Parker, Dec 2005

A blend of a number of western Sonoma County Syrah vineyards, the 2004 Syrah Las Colinas exhibits elegant, meaty, peppery, berry fruit along with hints of black fruits, licorice, smoke, plums, camphor, and earth. Drink this supple-textured 2004 over the next 4-5 years. This was the first opportunity I have had to taste a comprehensive line-up from new kid on the block, Eric Sussman. Sussman appears to be on a fast track to success with his hand-crafted, vineyard-based Pinot Noirs, Syrahs, and Zinfandels. All of the following wines are fermented with native yeasts, aged on their lees in French oak with no racking, and are bottled without fining or filtration. The vineyard sources are all cool climate sites west of Highway 101 in western Sonoma County. I suspect most of Radio-Coteau’s wines are sold via a mailing list, so readers are urged to sign up.
