Note di degustazione
Bright, deep ruby. Slightly reduced aromas of roasted berries, violet, bacon fat, animal fur and dark chocolate. Concentrated, dense and sweet, with powerful flavors of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate and game. Finishes with strong torrefaction notes and excellent length.

The dense opaque purple-colored 2001 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard Homage to Ed Oliveira is a wine of tremendous intensity as well as a big, smoky, blackberry and blueberry-scented nose with hints of licorice as well as truffles. Dense, opulent, and voluptuous, it is a hedonistic Syrah to enjoy over the next 7-8 years. I admire what Les Behrens, Bob Hitchcock, their wives, friends, and lunatic dog are doing at their winery and cellars on the top of Spring Mountain. They are obsessed fanatics who make wine with no compromises ... obviously my kind of people. Tel. 707-963-1774; Fax 707-963-8206
Saturated bright ruby. Great purity of syrah aromas on the nose: raw crushed dark berries, smoked meat, licorice, pepper and a rubbery note I find in some Northern Rhone examples. Like an essence of syrah in the mouth, with crushed black fruit, leather, game and pepper flavors. Delivers extraordinary intensity of flavor and palate coverage. Ripe tannins are buried under a tidal wave of crushed berry liqueur. Potentially great California syrah.
