The 2017 Roussanne-Viognier Venus is gorgeous. Pliant, silky and creamy, yet very much in the Donelan style. Apricot, tangerine, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes grace this pretty, inviting white.
The 2017 Venus is a blend of 95% Roussanne and 5% Viognier, fermented and aged for 11 months in neutral puncheons. It opens with a lovely nose of white pepper, honeysuckle and peaches with notes of fresh white pear and baker’s yeast plus a rocky vein. Medium to full-bodied, it offers fresh apple and pear fruit in the mouth with peppery/yeasty touches, lifted by juicy acidity and finishing with a pleasant touch of texture. 221 cases produced.
