Note di degustazione
Mid ruby with broad orange-tinged rim. At first a little smoky and closed. Fluid palate that is still embryonic. Wonderful tannic grip and structure and balance. There is lots of concentration, but the fruit is still a little reluctant to come out. Elegance is key! (WS)

The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino jumps from the glass with sweet red cherries, mint, anise, sweet tobacco and dried herbs. One of the silkier, more polished wines of the year, the 2009 stands out for its overall balance and harmony. Drink this tasty, mid-weight Brunello over the next few years.
The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is a surprising disappointment from an estate that has performed so consistently well over the years. In fact, I wonder if I got a bad batch of samples. For what it’s worth, the wine feels flat, mature and oxidative with syrupy aromas of honey and caramel poured over rather lifeless fruit. It sees 39 months of oak. Drink: 2014-2016. Mid ruby with orange rim. Lots of sweet concentrated fruit on the nose and minerally, iron notes. Highish acidity at first but melts in the precise cherry fruit on the finish. Quite classic and genuine with lovely youthful austerity. (WS)
