(14.3% alcohol): Bright ruby-red. Brooding aromas of cassis, black cherry, menthol, dark chocolate and espresso. Fine-grained and lively, with lovely herbal/floral lift to its intense, slightly medicinal flavors of black cherry, dark berries, licorice and menthol. Subtle torrefaction nuances add interest. Not a powerhouse or particularly expansive but finishes with solid acidity and firm tannic spine. This will yet improve--and possibly expand and loosen up further--but it already offers considerable appeal today owing to its refinement and subtle sweetness.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2012-2020, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Dec 2012

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Entre Deux Meres wraps around the palate with serious depth and power. Plums, mocha, espresso and spices all jump from the glass in this sexy, voluptuous wine. Round, sweet and inviting, the 2008 Entre Deux Meres captures the best qualities of the year. Although not super-complex, the 2008 is flat out delicious and incredibly appealing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. Lisa Drinkward and Francoise Peschon started this project as a way to have fun making wine with their respective young families. The Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from vineyards in Calistoga and Oakville, and typically includes a dollop of Petit Verdot. Tel. (707) 963-6156

(79% cabernet sauvignon, 11% cabernet franc, 8% petit verdot and 2% malbec): Moderately saturated ruby-red. Enticing aromas of dark berries, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, mint and spices. Showy and broad, but with an edge of acidity giving shape to the black raspberry and exotic brown spice flavors. Finishes with an herbal complexity and a firm tannic spine. Francoise Peschon (long-time winemaker for Araujo Estate) and Lisa Drinkward (the wife of Les Behrens) have been making this wine from the same vineyard source (the Blossom Creek vineyard north of Calistoga, which is under the same ownership as Turnbull Wine Cellars) since 2001.

Fruit forward style yet dried flowers and autumn leafs come through as well. Full with ripe, soft tannins. Give it a few years to show what it has.
